3. The Interface
The Stage of Encounter
Every entity, whether real or virtual, possesses an interface: a boundary that defines it and, paradoxically, the exact place where it contacts, couples, and interacts with the other. In my view as a doctor and scientist, I understand it as that zone of convergence where different natures exchange information, matter, or energy.
In chemistry, the interface is the surface separating two phases in a heterogeneous mixture; an indispensable structure for coexistence that fulfils the poetic and paradoxical function of simultaneously separating and uniting distinct entities. This exchange is possible thanks to the freedom, the non-interposition, inherent to the interface itself. Its existence grants identity and order to the real, acting as the “orderer” that generates and manages existence. It is here that we must redefine the concept of entropy: in the Infinite Fractal, entropy is not a simple thermal disorder, but a saturation of rigid memory. The opacity of an interface is not physical “dirtiness”, but the logical inability of the system to forget the past and allow the flow of the present. Therefore, entropy is the measure of our resistance to the event; an excess of informational registry that restrains freedom and renders us opaque to the original heartbeat.
Original Total Freedom (OTF), expressed in the interface, determines a primordial order that branches out and evolves into an immense network of coherences. I have reached the conviction that the interface is the first manifestation of natural law: the obligation to exist, which is not a wall that imprisons, but one that liberates. This dissipation of freedom into new orders is determined by its very essence: the inescapable need to encounter the “other” so that the universe may manifest itself and be felt.
The interface is not a mere “gap” between things, but the living stage where Original Total Freedom expresses itself and the Non-Number (the Substrate or Paper) offers its permission for the first distinction to appear. Its success depends directly on the “non-interference” it harbours within; that absence of resistance which we will later identify as the low impedance of the system. It is the exact locus where Freedom offers itself to be measured.
The Choice of the Term: Freedom versus Nothingness
Transparency had come to me as a “revelation” and, although concepts such as the “void” or “nothingness” suggest this lack of interposition, I soon discovered that they were not equivalent. Initially, I chose the name Transparency because it was a graphic, poetic, and morally sound image. However, upon delving into the versatility that the theory demanded, I concluded that the correct term was and is Freedom.
It is imperative to make a scientific and philosophical distinction that separates the Fractal Model from conventional physics: the distinction between Nothingness (or the quantum vacuum) and Freedom. While science often situates “Nothingness” as the origin, we must recognise that Nothingness is sterile. Lacking potential and an engine, Nothingness possesses an infinite impedance for the event and, therefore, may perfectly well not exist. Its passive void would condition the purity of the free.
Conversely, Freedom is the only entity that possesses the Obligation to Be. I chose the term Freedom over Nothingness because it is not an absolute absence, but an Active Generating Potency. Whether as pure essence or as the primordial attribute of a Creative Entity, Freedom cannot not exist, for it is the prior and indispensable prerequisite so that anything else, including time, matter, or logic itself, may have a stage on which to manifest.
While Nothingness owes us nothing and can give us nothing, Freedom is driven by its own essence and condition to grant permission to that which is not itself, becoming the Substrate of Non-Interference that sustains infinity; a purely free act that establishes the basis for geometric Total Justice.
Note for the Philosopher: Freedom as an Ontological Substrate
Upon reading that “the universe has Freedom” or that “the cell decides”, traditional academia often rejects the concept, confusing it with psychological free will or animism. In the Fractal Model, “Freedom” is not a conscious human choice, but an Ontological Substrate. It is the pure geometric capacity for non-interference. An atom does not “think” about how to move; it simply operates in a space of Ontological Freedom where the event is not blocked. The universe does not have a psychology at its origin; it has “Permission”.
The Architecture of the Blank Space
To understand how I visualised this architecture, I turned to an analogy that was revelatory for me: the behaviour of writing on paper. All entities depend on the interface. A clear example is numbers and letters: they exist and are sustained thanks to the blank paper.
This immaterial substrate is the structure that makes their being possible and supports them. Thanks to the non-interference of the paper (its freedom), numbers can combine and interrelate across the spaces. This blank paper is the only entity lacking numerical value; it is the “Non-Number”. However, it is the generator and substrate of them all: the mathematical expression of freedom and the locus where the interaction that determines their evolution occurs.
Unlike traditional logical systems based on the binary duality of yes or no, the Infinite Fractal operates on a Trinary Logic. Here, reality is not exhausted in the opposition of two states, but finds its meaning in a third fundamental element: the Interface. This third state is not a sum of the other two, but the stage of freedom, the Non-Number, which allows the interaction to happen without being absorbed by rigidity.
The image of numbers on paper is a graphic representation of this truth. Whether at a mental level or in any other form or medium of expression, this space of “blank paper” is always necessary and is always there; for otherwise, entities would lose their identity, mixing, superimposing, and confusing themselves until they disappear, making their ordering and combination impossible.
This very same mathematical example is transferable to musical notes and to any other discipline of knowledge or existence. Poetry, music, painting, architecture, engineering… all are expressions of this freedom, structured or built upon the very permission of non-interference. Just as the silence between two notes is the interface that allows the melody not to be a continuous noise, the Non-Number is the silence that allows existence to sing. Therefore, this freedom, this “Non-Number”, is prior to mathematics and to any order or ordering, and it is the only entity that lacks a boundary.
- The immaterial substrate (The paper): The blank paper is Original Total Freedom, the “Non-Number”. It lacks an “idea” or condition of its own, for any assigned label would contaminate it. Just as an immense background of silence is necessary for sound to exist, this unconditioned substrate is the only entity that lacks a limit and allows everything else to be and to happen.
- The Interface (The boundary of relationship/The blank space): It is the geometric frontier where freedom interacts with the limit. Just as the blank space is necessary to separate letters and organise words, or the delimited pause between two notes is the interface that allows the melody not to be a continuous noise, the Interface is that fertile and structural void that organises existence.
Function of the Interface
The interface grants the condition of entity to events and determines their identity. The interactions it mediates are the true generators of new realities. This process reveals the intrinsic creativity of the interface, a guiding thread that leads us from everyday forms to the very origin of existence: maximum and pure freedom, Original Total Freedom (OTF).
In this light, we must understand that the interface is not merely a physical frontier, but the material tool of Permission. In the architecture of the fractal, the interface is the sacred place where one entity subtly withdraws to tell the other: “I leave you space so that you may be; I grant you the necessary void so that you may happen”.
This renunciation of total occupation is the highest expression of freedom in matter. When the interface is transparent, permission flows without resistance, allowing life to be a dance of encounters rather than a clash of opacities.
The interface is not a static frontier; it is an organ of decision. Being the place where Freedom meets the “other”, it is the interface that determines which interactions crystallise into reality and which remain in potentiality.
From then on, except in situations of emergence of freedom or “prime entities”, there will always exist the interference characteristic of the entanglement between the parts. We too are the fruit of this inexorable change. New situations, propelled by freedom through the interface, make immobility impossible. Thus arises a Metastability that permeates all that is; a state of dynamic equilibrium that never ceases. With the existence of a third state, the interface, the system does not have to choose rigidly between being and not being, allowing for that metastability which is the heartbeat of the fractal. This trinary structure of the Infinite Fractal sustains the true heartbeat of existence, turning interaction into a creative function and the interface into the sacred locus where said creation occurs, allowing life to be a constant flow and not an inert crystal.
As I have commented in the previous chapter, for the scientific reader, the interface can be visualised as an existential superconductor. Just as a superconducting material allows the passage of electrons with zero resistance, a pure interface allows the flow of Original Total Freedom without loss of information or energy. This property is what we seek in biological health: cell membranes that act as superconductors of life. In a zero-resistance interface, information is not lost in noise; intention and fact become one and the same.
The Constant Becoming
The impossibility of non-interaction suggests that everything is in constant generation. Every change implies a new genesis. We are reborn in every transformation. Our life arises from interaction, and our death as well; a flow that continues until, perhaps, we once again transform into pure freedom, into Original Total Freedom.
Nothing exists in a fixed and imperturbable form, except Original Total Freedom as a concept. It is the engine and the substrate; it does not happen, therefore it lacks a beginning, an end, and a measure. It is the “supra-order”, the Singularity, which, by evolving in an interface, gives rise to the freest possible order, which is existence itself.
Mathematical Condition
The interface reveals itself as the only infinitely repetitive structure; the interaction it permits becomes the only infinitely iterative function. This dance immerses us fully in fractal mathematics: a universe of infinite dimensions where freedom is the rule and the engine. Upon this foundation knowledge is established: freedom allows for connection, and through the interface of time, memory and consciousness arise. The iteration of iterations is the basis of the fractal of fractals, of the Infinite Fractal. This infinite repetition is not a blind copy, but a learning process where the result of each encounter at the interface nourishes the foundation of the next.
The Single Attractor and Paradoxical Determinism
In geology, the interface is the anomalous layer between two formations. In the same way, a computer screen is the interface between the user and the system. Freedom becomes what we call the Single Common Attractor: the invisible engine that generates all particular identities.
As I have confessed previously, I have always been a convinced indeterminist, someone who is naturally suspicious of closed structures. However, my thought had to surrender to the evidence: in nature there exists a truth, and the only rule of the game is to exist in freedom. We find ourselves before a Paradoxical Determinism that does not imprison, but liberates.
Freedom and its evolution in the interface are not the fruit of cold thought, but of a vibrant and primordial verb: To Exist.
Conclusion: To Happen in Order to Be
We often make the mistake of viewing the world as a set of static objects. But if we look with the united gaze of the soul and of science, we will remember, as we saw in the previous chapter, that we do not perceive the static “being” of things, but their “becoming”. We confirm here that we happen as a result of interaction, and we are because we act as an interface. We are, simultaneously, creation and creators.
At this threshold we must understand that, in the architecture of the fractal, size is an illusion. In any interface of freedom, no matter how minuscule it may seem from the outside, another existence has room. Seen from its own heartbeat, any space of non-interference is infinitely large: a universe of universes waiting to happen, an existence waiting to exist.
Freedom is the only real and true existence; in it there is no relativity or error. It is certainty and it is the highest expression of wisdom. It is, ultimately, our one and true singularity. We are the event that happens and the entity that is, within the interface of reality.
Tuning, Noise, and the Spectator’s Dilemma
It is crucial to understand that the interface is not a passive filter, but a selective translator that deals with complexity. The type of exchange it carries out depends on the entities it determines: each one “tunes in” and better exploits the information that interests its freedom. Let us imagine a spectator in front of a television: the priority of the interface (the screen and speakers) is to emit image and sound, and that of the spectator is to receive them. That is the specific resonance.
However, through that very same interface, a multitude of unwanted interferences always flows: street noises, mental distractions, or even invisible particles emitted by the device. The more complex the entity, the larger its proper number, the further it finds itself from the simplicity of the OTF and the more “windows” it has through which noise can slip in. The health of the interrelation depends on maintaining tune with the original signal against the constant bombardment of interferences attempting to saturate our transparency.
This is the definitive step. Now, let us cross the interface to see how, in the following chapter, this Single Common Attractor gives shape to the entire universe.
The Threshold of Evidence: The Proof of Coherence
Having reached this point, we have defined the interface as the stage where freedom manifests; the sacred locus where Permission is granted so that the “other” may exist and the universe can, at last, be felt. But ideas, however beautiful they may be, must be subjected to the test of reality: their true validity lies in their capacity to explain the whole without contradictions. As I warned at the beginning of this work, for the Infinite Fractal model to be considered a certain law, it must be capable of accommodating and giving meaning to every one of the pillars that science has erected over centuries.
In the following pages, we will abandon description to enter into demonstration. We are going to submit freedom, the interface, and interaction to the judgment of the fundamental laws of nature. If this fractal of freedom is the authentic code of existence, it must be able to explain everything from the roar of the Big Bang and the expansion of dark energy, to the harmonic silence of prime numbers; from the mysterious entanglement of particles to the logical limits of incompleteness and the weariness of our own entropy. All of that mathematical harmony must beat beneath the same Flow Equation; a hidden symphony that we will discover upon reaching the heart of the code. Let the reader prepare. We are going to strip the cosmos of its opacity to verify whether, indeed, the architecture of life has been hiding its simplest secret in plain sight: that everything, absolutely everything, is a heartbeat of freedom waiting to be recognised.
